Early diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye disease are critical to preserving child’s vision.It is recommanded by doctors that children have to be screened by a pediatrician during yearly well visits.
Common Diseases are;
- Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
- Strabismus
- Refractive errors
- Eyelid diseases
- Cataract
- Corneal Diseases
- Glaucoma
- Trauma
- Diseases of the retina and optic nerve
- Light sensitivity
- Obvious misalignment of the eyes, even intermittently
- Problems reading or seeing things
A full eye test is recommended for all infants and children when there is:
- Turned eye (strabismus)
- Lazy eye (amblyopia)
- Strong glasses at an early age (refractive error)
- Premature birth (30 weeks gestation or less)
- Developmental delay
